Revolutionary Lessons from Boston
Dr. Jonathan Sarna & Barry Shrage
We will begin the conference with a dialogue between Dr. Jonathan Sarna, a leading scholar of American Jewish history, and Barry Shrage, the innovative President of Combined Jewish Philanthropies (Boston’s Jewish Federation). We will explore what has transformed the Boston Jewish community and how that has been shaped through its unique history and present day culture. Dr. Sarna and Mr. Shrage will speak about the seeds of change in the Boston Jewish community (with regard to interfaith relationships, community organizing and Jewish education to name a few areas) and they will lead us through an inquiry as to what is central to inspiring Jewish community and growing our own communities with meaning and purpose.
